Component Three Task One To reduce types of pollution: My team and I figured that Methyl Mercury could be used to decrease the rate of water pollution or marine pollution. Methyl Mercury is a bioaccumulative environmental toxicant. Because methyl mercury is made up in aquatic system and because it is not easily eliminated from organism it is biomagnified in aquatic food chains. To reduce air pollution an advanced version of an air filter would be needed. Methyl Mercury could be dumped into the most polluted areas of water to decrease pollution and increase the amount of fresh water and clean water. The air filter would be On different modes of transportation to cleanse the air that is around the vehicle. The filter could be put into the muffler of cars and engines of planes. Component Three Task Two Our goal with this project is to inform the world (Specifically the US since it’s the top country of oil- A natural resource that is used to power automobiles and other objects though, can causes a mass amount of air pollution in populated cities) about the need to prevent air, land, and water pollution. By publicizing to the U.S., China, and India population and other large-wide polluted countries about the need and importance of preventing and prohibiting pollution we will be bettering the world, and we are helping announce world-wide the results of littering. We are also encouraging governments to do what they can to eliminate/purify the contaminated pollution and waters. This project will help open citizens global-wide open their eyes to the effects of littering and how generations to come will be effected by our decisions. While helping them understand ways to prevent water, land, and air pollution, and presenting ways to purify contaminated water or chemical-filled air. Additionally, stating the effect that will mostly transpire due to pollution and effects that have already risen. By doing this project we will have a significant effect on the world, even if our project only reaches out to one person it will be effective, because one person can make a difference and change the world. Component Three Task Three THE AIR POLLUTION RESEARCH CENTER (APRC)
The Air Pollution Research Center (APRC) was established by the Regents of the University of California in 1961 to conduct basic and applied research into photochemical air pollution. Presently the major focus of the APRC is in atmospheric science. Currently, this research is supported by extramural grant and contract funding from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, the California Air Resources Board, the University of California Toxic Substances Teaching and Research Program, and a number of industrial contracts. Tsinghua University The Water Pollution Control Laboratory, a sub-laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control State Key Joint Laboratory, was established in 1989 and is affiliated to the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University. Since its establishment, aiming at the hotspots of the world in the field of water pollution control as well as basing itself upon serving the solution of important issues of water environment in China, the Laboratory has been focusing on the research of new water pollution control technologies and their mechanisms.
