**DRESS CODE** MANDATORY UNIFORM POLICY Students are expected to come to school with proper attention to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress. Norland Middle School is a mandatory uniform school. All students are required to be in compliance with this policy at all times during every school day unless otherwise directed. The consequences for not adhering to the uniform policy will be strongly enforced. UNIFORM DRESS CODE · Tops for boys and girls must be one of the following: Solid navy or solid white (no stripes) polo shirt. ALL SHIRTS MUST HAVE A COLLAR. · Bottoms for boys may be any of the following: Bermudas (navy or khaki), long "uniform" pants (navy or khaki). NO SWEAT PANTS OR JEANS ALLOWED. · Bottoms for girls may be any of the following: Knee-length skirt – No slits (navy or khaki), long "uniform" pants (navy or khaki) or Bermudas (navy or khaki). NO SWEAT PANTS OR JEANS ALLOWED. NO TENNIS SKIRTS OR SKORTS ALLOWED. · When purchasing uniforms, please do not forget to purchase items for the winter days. Jeans will not be permitted. · Shoes with metal cleats, clogs, flip flops, sandals, tap shoes, bedroom slippers, skate shoes, outlandish shoes or shoes without back straps are not permitted. · Flat shoes (no high heels) such as sneakers, dress shoes and casual shoes are permitted. · No school emblems required. · No name brand emblems allowed on any clothing. · All attire must be appropriate size. Specifically: · All shirts should extend no further than mid wrist when untucked. · All pants must be worn at the waist, not below the waist. · Stomach should be covered at all times. · Uniforms may not be altered in any way. · When wearing more than one top, the school uniform shirt must be worn on top. · Headgear, bandanas, hats, scullies, hoods, and head bans are not permitted. · I.D. badge is mandatory and is part of the uniform. CONSEQUENCES FOR DRESS CODE VIOLATION As the year progresses, sweeps will be randomly conducted at the principal’s or principal’s designee’s discretion, which could result in immediate outdoor suspension if the student is not in compliance. |
